| Communists
everywhere!
Another communist dropped
by the other day
He said he had to hurry
but I asked if he could stay
So we chatted over drinks
and he enquired into my plans
And I said, I'll join the
party when I can
Another summer is retreating
rapidly
As I while away the hours
living life only for me
Though I'm soft and getting
softer and the struggle will be rough
I suppose I'll join the
party soon enough
And don't you know that there
are communists everywhere!
Sly and subversive
With plans so perverse if
I told you you would be
revolted
Well that's what the papers
say
That's what I hope and pray
Another year or so from now
I might be dead
Or in a jail or in a chair
with wires extending from my head
But it's better than a placid
life among the bourgeoisie
So I guess I'll join the
party gratefully
And don't you know that there
are communists everywhere!
Indoctrinating
Our children and waiting
On orders from their Moscow
bosses
Well that's what the papers
say
That's what I hope and pray
I raise a toast to the brotherhood
of men
And all my commie friends
Here's to the ones who expose
the Trotskyites
And give up sleepless nights
For workers and their rights
A garden of delights
Another communist dropped
by to say hello
When I said, how goes the
party, Comrade? He said, don't you know
That our chances are remoter
than the mountains of the moon
So I hope you'll join the
party very soon
And don't you know that there
are communists everywhere!
Crossing our borders
And working on orders
From Moscow and Peking
And probing and seeking
A weakness and plotting
Our downfall and rotting
Our institutions from within
Well that's what the papers
say
That's what I hope and pray
Another summer has retreated
into fall
And I must go away, if not
this year then not at all
For the rumour has the party
as extinct as Peking Man
So I'd better join the party
while I can
Yes I'd better join the
party while I can
